Latent Design has been awarded a contract to lead Chicago's first creative placemaking projects on over 50 sites in 23 neighborhoods. While prestigious, the contract provides only start up funding of $50,000 to transform over 600,000sf of public space and challenges us to create a sustainable program that all Chicagoans can benefit from because public space is a right, not a luxury. To date, our small firm has augmented perceptions, written a new ordinance, transformed the retail landscape, and fostered cultural partnerships all probono, but we still need much more help.
We are seeking 2-4 volunteers for the next six months that would work directly with us to frame, design and implement the first year of Chicago citywide placemaking initiatives as part of Activate! Chicago and develop a model for an urban design startup. Please review the volunteer description and send any inquiries to firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you!
